Meet Kate
Kate Rosen is passionate about helping others discover greater joy in singing.
She has taught hundreds of students with all sorts of different goals and dreams. Some have gone on to musical theatre programs at schools including the University of Michigan, or have been selected as a classical soloist for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. Others have found their voices so they can enjoy karaoke with friends, finally get into the top choir at school, or just feel more like themselves.
A lifelong learner, Kate is fully certified in Evidence-Based Voice with Maddie Tarbox, level 2 certified in Somatic Voicework™ with Jeanie LoVetri, has studied Musical Theatre Coaching with Nate Plummer of Stagedoor Unlocked, and has studied vocal anatomy and science with Shannon Coates’ The Vocal Instrument. She has also studied Transgender Voice and Speech Training for Teachers with Liz Jackson Hearns, and delved into Artistry training with Jess Baldwin of True Colors Voice & Artistry.
Kate is proud to be pioneering change in size inclusivity in the voice studio. She co-authored three academic articles on the subject, two in the Journal of Singing (2023) and another in Voice & Speech Review (2024), as well as co-leading the first study on the subject of body liberation and weight bias in the voice studio. She has spoken on this topic at conferences for the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Pan American Vocology Association, the Musical Theater Educator’s Alliance, the Association for Popular Music Education, The Speakeasy Cooperative, and more.
Kate earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Children's Choir, and is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She’s also a member of the raddest group of voice teachers on the planet, the Speakeasy Cooperative. Kate is a former adjudicator for the Sutton Foster Ovation Awards, the Michigan branch of the Jimmy Awards.

— Mira Davis,

“Kate helped my son gain confidence, good vocal technique, audition skills, and best of all helped him develop a love for singing. Thanks to Kate, he has landed lead roles in musicals, solos in show choirs, and a spot in every choir he’s auditioned for.”
— Aimee Kilcher, parent
“Kate brought me out of my shell and helped me feel confident in my ability. She is encouraging and supportive, and always has a new tip or trick to help improve your technique. I am miles from the singer I used to be and I couldn’t have done it without Kate! ”
— Alanna Gravitt, adult student
“Working with Kate prepared me for the rigor of studying music in college. She provided a safe, comfortable environment, helped me with my goals, and went above and beyond. I wouldn’t be the musician I am today if it weren't for her.”
